Industrial Systems / Technology

From residual materials to defined products.

Northveil is advancing a high-temperature electrometallurgical platform for oxide-bearing industrial residues and secondary mineral materials.

Historical industrial operationU.S. validation pathwayMultiple product streams

One integrated platform. Multiple feedstocks. Multiple product streams.

The defining feature of the Northveil Platform is a common, feedstock-adaptive electrometallurgical architecture that controls how compatible oxide-bearing material is separated into several useful product streams.

The objective is to create value from the complete material system rather than recover a single element and leave the remaining material as waste. Detailed process design, operating methods and know-how remain proprietary to Northveil.

01 / Technological feature

Integrated and feedstock-adaptive

One common architecture is adapted to the composition of different compatible oxide-bearing feedstocks instead of requiring a separate unrelated technology for each material.

02 / Practical result

Multiple products from one material

Compatible feedstocks are directed into multiple defined outputs, creating several useful products from one incoming material system.

03 / Environmental advantage

Historical zero-residual-waste operation

Across four historically processed feedstock classes, all resulting material streams were utilized rather than left as residual solid waste for disposal.

04 / Commercial advantage

Value beyond one recovered element

Commercial value can be created across metals and alloys, critical-mineral concentrates and the final cement product.

Prior industrial operation provides the foundation for U.S. validation.

Northveil's platform builds on prior industrial-scale operation outside the United States. This operating history and retained technical knowledge provide the foundation for the current U.S. validation and commercialization program.

Historical material 01

Bauxite residue

Red mud and related iron- and aluminum-bearing oxide residues formed part of the historical industrial program.

Historical material 02

Coal fly ash

Coal fly ash formed part of the historical industrial program.

Historical material 03

Titanium-bearing residues

Titanium-containing industrial materials formed part of the historical industrial program.

Historical material 04

Manganese-bearing residues

Manganese-bearing material, including blast-furnace sludge, forms part of the historical industrial record.

Evidence boundary

Historical processing does not by itself establish present-day performance, economics, environmental compliance or product specifications. Those claims require controlled testwork and independent analysis.

Oxide-bearing materials remain the primary technical focus.

Suitability cannot be determined from a material name alone. Each candidate requires representative sampling and mineralogical, chemical and phase analysis before a process route can be selected.

Scope expansion

The Northveil Platform is currently focused on compatible oxide-bearing materials. The extension of the platform to other feedstock classes is currently under technical development by Northveil's CTO.

Additional industrial residues and secondary mineral materials may be evaluated case by case after technical screening.

Future evaluation

The Northveil Platform is a zero-waste technology.

Across the four historically processed feedstock classes, resulting material streams were utilized rather than left as residual solid waste for disposal. Product composition varies by feedstock, and equivalent performance for proposed or future feedstocks remains subject to feedstock-specific validation.

Conceptual overview. The product mix depends on the feedstock; performance and product specifications for new materials require validation.
01 / Historical products

Pig iron & ferroalloys

Historical iron-bearing product streams included vanadium-enriched pig iron and complex Fe–Si–V ferroalloy from coal fly ash, together with manganese-enriched ferroalloy from manganese blast-furnace sludge.

02 / Historical products

Feedstock-specific master alloys

The documented product system includes an aluminum–silicon–scandium–yttrium master alloy from bauxite residue and a titanium-bearing master alloy from titanium-bearing residues.

03 / Critical minerals

Rare-earth oxide concentrates

Documented REE-bearing product streams identify light rare-earth elements lanthanum, cerium and neodymium, together with yttrium, gadolinium and dysprosium.

04 / Cement co-product

Waterproof, rapid-setting high-alumina cement

Historical industrial operation produced a waterproof, rapid-setting high-alumina cement co-product that was used in practice. Present-day specifications, certification and commercial qualification remain subject to independent testing.
